KBK 750

LW08 MMJ, now carrying our cherished registration KBK 750, is one of the most unusual vehicles in our fleet. It is an Alexander Dennis Enviro200, built in 2008, but unlike most buses of its age, it spent its first years away from passenger service as a development and engine test vehicle for Alexander Dennis.

During its time with Alexander Dennis, the vehicle was used at the manufacturer's facility in Guildford for testing different engine and drivetrain technology. It is particularly interesting because it was used as a hybrid development vehicle, making it something of a test bed for technology that would later feature in production of Enviro200 hybrids. Despite being built in 2008, it was not registered for road use until 2019, when it received the registration LW08 MMJ.

After more than ten years as an Alexander Dennis development vehicle, it was acquired by us in 2019. At the time of its arrival, it had covered only around 3,300 miles, an exceptionally low mileage for a bus of its age. Once it entered our fleet, it was re-registered KBK 750, a registration previously associated with another Faresaver vehicle.

KBK 750 has one of the most unusual stories in our fleet. Built in 2008 but spending its first decade as an Alexander Dennis test bed, it eventually made the transition to passenger service with us in 2019. Today, it remains a reminder of the development work behind the buses we see on our roads every day — and one of the most distinctive Enviro200s to have carried the Faresaver name.
